windage tray 351w engine

looking for a windage tray for my 89 f250 351w truck.

NPD is out of stock
found some on ebay and other places

what do you guys suggest? do i want a stud girdle as well? its just a work truck but thought i would do some extra upgrades whiles its out and apart.

the engine has less then 10,000 miles on the rebuild. has shorty headers and a ford towing cam installed. thats what the previous owner told me about the engine.

what are your suggestions.

oh here is another thread i put up on another forum with links to ones ive found

What I know is a towing cam with shorty headers is not the best combo. Long tube headers would be much better & give much better power.
What are you wanting a performance windage tray for? What are you trying to accomplish?

as far as the headers, i agree with you there. these are the headers that are on there from the previous owner. i havn't been able to find actual long tubes but mid length. might switch them as of yet just havn't ordered those.

as far as the windage tray, its more of a just because i can rather than a really needed thing. it might be of some help going down the highway but likely not much.

also just because i can.

Of course.. it's your money so you can spend it as you like, but considering the limitations of the stock heads and intake you would get more gains from 1.7 roller rockers, Just sayin.

Unless you're running it on a circle track and are experiencing oil aeration, your money is better spent somewhere else.

Only time I used a windage tray was in a 7000+rpm drag engine. As far as roller rockers, they're nice but not essential for long life. Many folks buy all kinds of high dollar parts and then use a second rate machine shop. If you want it to last use the best machine shop you can find in your area and be as meticulous as you can when reassembling everything. Balancing the reciprocating assembly will get you a long way down the road. The whole roller rocker thing is nice but unless you're building an engine that can benefit from the expense, dropping $500-1000 for roller rocker setup is just not worth it. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 94 300 and when I pulled it apart everything was in pretty good shape. The bearings were just worn out. The valve train was in great shape. a set of bronze wall guides a three angle job, new exhaust seats, and a clean up cut was all it needed. These truck engines are pretty darn tough.

You guys hit on my thinking what is he wanting to do with this. The windage really threw me on a basically stock truck. I would of picked something different to circle track. If I was thinking of drag racing then a 514 or 521 would be in order not a 351.
I agree money could be spent in a much better way IMHO. Heads, different header, a programmer, gears (depending on usage) A different stall converter. the list goes on, but first you have to decide what you want to accomplish in the end.
