Looking for headers

I have a 70 f-100 with a swopped out 351w. I have not been successful in finding any headers as of yet that will clear the pass side firewall. I know ford first came out with 351w trucks in 77. So I am thinking: can a guy fit a set of 77 351w headers in a 70 with a 351w? Is the engine compartment the same? If any of you have an answer even with a pair of shorty headers that will do. Please no guess work and no I am not cutting on anything and the local muffler dude said it would cost $1200 to make a set (I think he had been sniffing chevy exhaust too long). I know there is an answer and somebody has it.

honestly the price to make a set of headers, after making a set for mine because i wanted 1 3/4 tubes id say isnt bad, personaly i wouldnt want to do another set for the time it took lol. I have put short headers on many trucks of different years and i cant picture them not clearing your firewall, can i guarantee it no. but they are pretty tight to the block and turn down pretty tightly so im 80 % sure they would fit.

Do you have a brand you suggest? I have not yet tried a set of shorties.

the bbk ceramic coated headers are excellent quality and they come 1 5/8 tubes. that being said this set does have a small tube you would plug that was originaly for egr to screw in to. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku


if you dont like the idea of the small tube to plug then there is also other sets of short headers but there not 1 5/8 tubes and there not as good quality in my opinion

I have seen alot of shorties for mustangs would these be any different for a truck?

yes they are different, the ones for a mustang, i tried on my truck at one point. And on mine because its 4 wheel drive the drivers side header dumped right over the front drive shaft for the front rear, so my dad had to come off that header with a 90 degree bend, where as the truck ones come down differently on that side, the passager sides bent basicaly the same though
