03 random shutdown/ hickups
i have an 03 f350 6.0 every now and again if its just idleing it will just shut down but then will fire right back up and have no cel if im driving it will give me a hickup lose power for a fraction of a second then come right back on. Any ideas whats going on here. It has 183xxx on it a cai edge juice module (stays on the lowest setting most of the time) and muffler/cat delete not really sure where to start

Berry, OEM oil and FUEL filters are best for these trucks ,no after market filters check and make sure the oil cap is OEM , DO you have a gauge to read live senser data , -like(scangaugeII or dash boss ) in like- readings in temp sensers will help us help you. remember take the readings like This
!. koeo ( key on Engine Off)+ (make note)
2. start ( low Idol)=(make note)
3. 2500 rpm _( make note)
all at warm engine temp 195 is good.
Like to know what kind of oil ur useing , most use 5w 40 synthec rottella what are you running? have you cleaned your EGR lately? are you reading HOT temps? and what coolent have you been running plus flush? sorry lots to look at but recomended

I bought the truck end of last year haven't yet gotten a scan gauge for it I'm running amsoil and napa gold oil filter and motor craft fuel filters. Haven't cleaned the egr will look into that and my temp gauge just says hot and cold have no idea what temps I'm running if its warm out needle is in the middle cold out barely gets off cold

I'm not sure the napa filter would be an Issuie as long as its the same height as OEM filter, mite be some thing to look into.also the cap that has to OEM as far as your mod can you unhook it and run stock to see if that helps.as Benny has stated check the wireing harness for Chaffing lots of places to rub on ,in the tech folders theres a list of places to look make sure ficm is plugged in all three plugs

Sounds like you need a thermostat & EGR Valve Cleaning
The Temp Gauge SUCKS in these trucks so if it reads Cold Its REALLY COLD ECT Thermostat could be Stuck OPEN
Pretty good chance the EGR Valve is all Gooey needs cleaning if it runs Cold
You also may see a MPG Incress with new thermostat since Heat is part of whats needed for Proper/Thuro diesel fuel Combustion!!

Pull it and you can SOAK the Bottom Half in cleaner
But be careful NOT to get Liqued into the weep Holes by the gasket area or up in electronics part
I found the best way to get the EGR Valve out is too use 2 Pry bars
I use 2 like this
Use use these for work so mine have been hit by a Belt Sander to make the tips Thinner and very sharp
But use 2 and position them so that they Oppose each other and pry up evenly it will pop right out
Using only 1 prybar is way harder since when you only pry 1 side it puts the egr valve on a BIND and Pinches it in there
Maybe you can work around it with 1 IDK
2 bars work slick
SOme undo bolts and turn egr valve to where they can Loop Wire threw the bolt holes and then use Something to go threw the wire loop and pry it up
Wire trick works but bars are way slicker
