Need a new intake pronto. Suggestions.

Hey guys/gals. I need some quick advice here. I have a 79 150, 4x4, 460 .060 over, rv cam, 600 cfm Edelbrock? Stock heads, crank etc. 3.55 gears 33x10.5 tires. All the applicable info I can think of. I have a performer on it now, but it is leaking coolant due to stripped bolt at thermostat. (Exhausted all efforts to repair. NO GO). What would be the best intake to purchase? Basically just a street driven vehicle with the occasional off road trip. I have heard the performer isn't much better than a stock, so I'm thinking of something other than what I have. Seems like the stealth is highly suggested. Need the imput ASAP please. Cuz I have to get it on order and installed immediately. Thank you all in advance

either the stealth or Performer RPM would probably work good in your application. or even the air gap, but they are a little more money.

I run a Stealth with a one inch spacer and love it for what it is. In my case the air cleaner barely clears the firewall due to the spacer but that's a non-issue for the most part. Just make sure you don't use the factory metal gaskets with it, get the recommended Felpro other other softer aftermarket ones.

Weiand stealth or performer RPM. I baught a new weiand stealth and it was made to order, not in stock and delayed sounds bad for you but the performer RPM is very good and a little more money new.

Well.... After some research I decided to go with the stealth. And after going a few rounds with the local auto parts store about price matching, I finally got it ordered. Good info on the gaskets though. Thanks. I think I've read on here somewhere that you're not supposed to used a valley pan on the stealth. Is that true?

It is true and I kind of found out the hard way. Jegs recommends this gasket on their site so you have an idea of what you need.

JEGS Performance Products 210306 JEGS Intake Manifold Gaskets

Make sure you match it up to the port size on the intake as a lot of gaskets out there are different sizes although they say they work for the 460.

Thanks, ordered that part#. Not sure what the "port matched" meant but I'm sure it will be fine. Sorry.... kind of a novice but very handy. Just not much experience as far as building motors. But in my defense, I pulled this motor, disassembled, had it rebuilt, received a long block, put the rest back together, and put it in my 79 150. (With my 10 yr old nephew dropping the motor down for me lol). If that accounts for anything. All I know is I love this truck and I want to keep it going and make it better. That's why I am a member of this site. Common sense goes a long way.

Port matching can be kind of tough depending on the time and tools available. With me I put the intake in on my daily driver over the weekend in a time crunch and never port matched the intake to the heads and it ran great. Just make sure you line the gaskets up to the ports and tack them in place with a a bead of silicone before you drop the intake in place.
