Anyone know what the gain is going from stock 4bbl intake vs. Edelbrock Performer?
Since my engine isn't going to be modified too much, I'm rethinking my decision to install an aftermarket intake.
Is the benefit from the Performer going to make that much of a difference?
From what I hear its not really worth the money. A cam would be cheaper and will give you more power. Just make sure you don't overcam it. Obviously you aren't looking for a screamer so the RPM manifold wouldn't really suit you either.
Thanks Rat,
I went with an RV type cam and I went ahead and took back the RPM and got a Performer. I bought a K&N filter for my Holley with the money I saved.
Don,
Did the stock 4bbl intake have a large "S" on the #1 runner? If it did then I have read that it is nearly identical in performance to the "Performer". Only difference is you save 50lbs!
From everything I have read if ya want to upgrade from an orignal "S" code intake go with the Performer RPM. That's probably what I will do.
Good luck,
Lee
