Still acquiring all the needed supplies for my swap over but am curious to know if I need a shield or a cooler plate for carb if I install the 87 exhaust manifolds with a Holley or eldelbrock carb (Or autolite 4100)Any one with An extra duraspark wiring harness not needed I will purchase.( 1985 f150. 4x4 300 4.9)Still calling salvage yards and the few I find they will sell with the engine lol. MIght have to venture out further from the small cities around here.i know painless sells a harness but is this actually complete, saw a post where I may have to wire the temp coolant sensor in ,this truck doesnt have a tach .Plans. Offenhauser dp/c. Intake ,fuel injected exhaust manifolds, considering the redhead steering box, maybe dual exhausts THanks TR

I'll take a look in the shed this weekend and see if I've got an old DS module and harness laying around. NAPA or another parts store may sell them new, but for less than what you'd pay you can get some deutsch or weatherpack connctors and make one to fit.

The module and pigtail from any DSII truck or van will work, so a trip to the yard might be the quickest and easiest solution.

No heat shield on my truck and no worries. Getting some heat to the bottom of the intake is a big plus though.

I built my own harness. New distributor w/cap, cap adapter, rotor, ignition module w/blue grommet, and the three connectors needed. All new and all from Rock Auto for a little over $150, delivered to my door. The used connectors i found were too corroded and the wiring was too brittle to be trusted in my opinion. And i got tired of hunting thru junkyards and dealing with the surly people that run them. Good luck. ...jack

The diagram i used came from one of the posts on this forum. I used the diagram that clearly showed the male and female connectors and the color of the wires that come out of the module and the distributor. it is important to wire the pickup module wires using correct polarity as they relate to the ignition module. be sure to get a blue grommet module. Temp sensor is not used w/Duraspark II. ....jack
