Sync "Indexing, please wait."

Sync "Indexing, please wait."
2012 Lariat F250.
The lady in my radio refuses to let me do anything with my USB-connected iPhone 4. I can ask for USB, and I get USB, however I am unable to change Artist, Song, Playlist....anything due to her stating "Indexing, please wait." power cycled the iPhone, plugged in another iPhone to try and see if it's device specific...no joy. Plays music just fine, however to change anything from what I'm currently listening to, I have to unplug the device and change it on the phone, then reconnect. This sucks when you're doing 80 up a 7% in traffic.
Suggestions or sage advice?
TIA.

How long are you waiting while it indexes? Mine does this once in a while, sometimes up to 30-45 seconds (which seems lengthy when you're waiting for it)...
I say pull the fuse on the Sync module, pop it back in, and it reboot/reset. This has cleared up some nuances for others in the past.

My wife has had that problem in her Explorer. After a brief search, I found the problem. The little plate on the dash says Sync is powered by Microsoft. Case closed.
Seriously though, there was just an update that came out and the Explorer was at the dealer for something different and they updated the Sync. That was just over a week ago. Since then, the problem has disappeared. The update was free due to some recall that I didn't know about.
Just after they updated it, I got a letter from Ford that said:
"In the spirit of continuous improvement, Ford is pleased to provide software update V3.5 for the MyFordTouch system in your vehicle. This software is available for download at syncmyride.com or at your local dealer's service department."
I don't know if they are providing this update in the SD world or not or whether it is even applicable to the SD, although I'm sure it is.
Good luck.

Why not just use BT. You would then be able to control it on the phone. I don't think the lady can understand very well any ways when I tell her what I want to listen to. Plus I don't have to plug it in every time. I do use a 12V USB charger in the center console to charge the phone too, this way it won't connect to the Sync system.

THanks for the tips, guys. I'll try and let it index for a reasonable amount of time and see what I get.

Did a Master Reset of the system, no joy. Dealer said they'd look at it, but they'd need the truck for a few. As of right now, everything works except USB (still shows Indexing and the lady tells me to wait) and the external temp gauge is stuck on 50 degrees Fahrenheit (to which the service guy said "well, at least it's optimistic.)
Going to go pull the batteries here in a few. My truck shows updated in September and i'm not finding a new revision on syncmyride.com.
What I think caused this is my current USB device is a non-SIM iPhone 4 on IOS 5. My buddy elected to plug in his iPhone 5 on 6.0.1. For whatever reason, the connection was bad where the system would occasionally state the device was disconnected. The combination of that and his attempts to adjust the cable might've horked up the Sync system.
Too bad i can't FDISK the damn thing...
