Volt meter reading

What would be the maximum voltage that a gauge would read in my 66 F250. Now its not all original. The PO dropped in a carbureted 460 and put in a whopper of an alternator (140 amp). I just installed brand new Classic Instrument gauges and the volt gauge is reading around 14 when idling. Is that normal? Or do I have an issue with my voltage regulator?
