Need HELP with my 1993 F150

I have a 1993 f150 with the 302, auto tranny 4wd etc, the thing I need help with is when I first got the truck it sat for a year or two, I would start it up and it would idle then immediately shut off. then I took the mass air flow sensor out and cleaned the crap out of it, then it would idle, while I've restored it, it sat inside a garage for 6 months, now the problem is not that it won't idle, but instead it starts right up and idles low, then when I shift into drive or reverse it idles down and sometimes even shuts off. it had some bad gas in it, do I have a serious issue or does anyone think just a new tank of gas some seafoam and a long drive will help it? PLEASE HELP

X2. Pull the fuel pump and flush out the tank, the lines, and replace the filter. Pretty easy to burn out the pump with a clogged system.

Personally, I'd replace your fuel filter & go w/ a fill of 87 octane & a can of Sea Foam. Higher octane would actually hinger more than help.

Regarding your low idle & failure to adjust when put in gear. Sounds IAC related. Many times removal/ clean/ reinstall will do the trick. Just takes a few minutes & i've yet to have to replace the gasket when I've done it.

pumped out most of the old gas from the front tank, it was a heavy yellow color and had that old gas stench to it, need to replace the filter and add new gas, anyone have any other suggestions for my issue? also running a check engine light and sometimes it flickers.. i cant read the codes so anyone think it could be from sitting and running hard? help

I went ahead and purchased a code reader for the 1993s, but I have two of them. You can still get the codes without a reader though.

Check over at fordfuelinjection.com.

if you're not looking a 650-675 rpm warm curb idle (for a 302 A/T), a failed IAC would be my guess. Do you have a Tach on it?
