1988 f150 problems
I got a 1988 F-150 4x4 with 302 for free with 255,000 miles and was still running strong. I let it sit fro a while and now my truck idle all crazy. Some daysa it will be fine and other days it will stall out unless i give it gass. My second problem is my gas gauge dont work. It wouldnt be such a problem but my truck ddont have a tripometer so i got to rember when to put gas it it, its a pain in the butt. It works when its form a quater to empty though any suggestions.

My float for the sending unit had a hole in it and caused it to fill with gas trapping a small air bubble and it did the same thing. I put a little of that gas tank repair on it and it is good as new. As far as the idle I would check out your idle air sensor on the side of the throttle body. This controls your idle speed. (I am assuming it is fuel injected being an 88) I hope this can help.
