07 Fx2 Front struts and rear shocks
Howdy,
Looking at replacement front strut assemblies (to keep it easy). I am particular to the Monroe brand as i've had good luck in years past. I will choose rear shocks to match what i decide on the fronts.
My question is does anyone know what the difference is between the Monroe Quick Strut and the Roadmatic Quick Strut?
I was hoping for something closer to a factory replacement but i wouldnt mind an improved ride.
I love this damn truck. It has been a fantastic truck and i plan on passing it to my daughter soon.
regards
eddie

Found this at amazon
I’m guessing you’re looking at the 171362 and 181362?
The 181 are the roadmatics.
The 18 series struts are an economy grade unit while the 17 series units are premium line units. The economy units have a shorter warranty with lower grade valving technology while the premium units are lifetime warranty with higher grade valving technology.

I do replace struts as an assembly quite often these days (It is way cheaper)
In my opinion the old fashioned Motorcraft strut only swap is better
Generally the new strut assemblies are made as cheap as possible in China
The valving inside can get loose in a couple of weeks and cause a chuckle as well as some of them leak straight away
I get it those springs are tough to compress and if you are doing a lift watch out and have bandaids
I use 3 spring compressors instead of two and that makes it a little easier
