Help with Alternator

Saturday i bought a 1985 F150 2x4 inline 6 5spd.
The battery died on me yesterday and i traced the problem to the alternator. Im in the middle of getting the wiring all buttoned up but ive hit a wall. It seems wires were never hooked up. I need help!

The wires I'm talking about are the "sta" or stator. Coming off the alternator it turns into 2 wires and I found 2 diagrams one showing it going to the choke and another showing it going to ignition switch. Any input would help greatly!

If there is anybody local that could come help me out please call me.

Im in rancho cucamonga between the 210 and the 10 on archibald.

Have you asked in your local Chapter? I don't know where Rancho Cucamonga is but find your state's FTE Chapter here:

Regional Chapters - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

BTW I am only familiar with stator <-> choke connections, can't say I've heard of stator <-> ignition switch circuits before.

In your experience where does the stator connect to the ignition?

I think you're confused, or I said it wrong... I have never heard of stator-to-ignition-switch wiring, just to a white/black wire attaching to an electric choke heater.

That's a great idea! I was planning on taking a picture and posting up what helped me in my situation.
All that's left is to see if my battery is charging/holding a charge.

sounds like you got it, but if its still not working for some reason, you might consider upgrading to the 3g alternator. tons of info on that if you do a search here
