Another 223 intake thread
Howdy. First let me introduce myself. You can call me Tom or anything except late for lunch
Looks like I'll be putting a 223 and 4sp in my '59 F100 stepside. Now the intake manifold questions. I've narrowed it down to the Offy 2X1 or the Clifford 4 or 2V. The advantage I see with the Offy is no need to go with a different exhaust manifold. But what do you do about choke? Do you just run a cable to one carb?
As for the Clifford, I'd need to run a header and prolly would go with the Patriot. Are there any clearance issues using this approach? Also I had a Holley 390 on my '65 240 with an Offy C manifold and it just wasn't enough carb. Would I run into the same problem with the Clifford or is the plenum smaller than on the Offy C? I still have the 390 so the cost issue makes that easier to deal with. Thanks

I have an Offy 2x1 intake in my 52. I'm running original Holley 1904s with glass bowls. I also have the stock exhaust manifold. As Owen stated, you only need to run the choke to one carburetor. I have the choke hooked up to the rear carburetor. If you're ambitious, you can run a separate choke to the first carburetor, but that isn't necessary. My truck starts and runs with just one choke.
You can ask 215/223 questions here. You'll probably get more and better responses.

Hi, vintage, you 'll get good info here. You can also post up in FTE's Inline 6 Forum.
Regarding the clearance issues using headers,I'm guessing you'll have no problems.I had headers on my Y-block, a larger motor than your 223, and had no problems fitting it into the engine bay of a Fridge.

I also understand the Clifford manifold is water heated so cold weather around the Pac N.W. wouldn't be a problem. Cost is another thang. As stated I have a Holley 390. But headers also = custom exhaust. I see LMC has a complete system for mine for around $170
