Alright if you read my other thread about the problems I'm having with my current 4 barrel Holley than you see why I just want to replace it. I'm thinking of getting an edelbrock with electric choke instead of the Holley with the manual choke this is on it now, since the manual choke lines are broken and I want to replace the exhaust manifolds with headers anyways, which wont have the lines for manual choke. So I'd like to replace it with an edelbrock 500cfm or something along those lines. How do you even choose whats the right size. I still do not know what size motor I have, I believe it's a 360 according to the vin number, but the intake manifold is a streetmaster 390 so would an edelbrock electric choke mount right up to this or not?? I would love to just spend the extra money and buy a brand new 4 barrel edelbrock with electric choke, but I do not know what I would have to change or do I need to convert the intake manifold as well? Please help me!!
I had to change the intake manifold on my 352 to put the new Holley 600 cfm electric choke on mine. Every one in here in said it was the correct size for a 352, 360 and 390. It ran great on my truck right out of the box, I,m building a 390 now and its going on it as well.
edelbrock carb number1406 600cfm elec choke best choice you can make.
Well I guess I made the right choice than, that is exactly what I bought yesterday afternoon, lol. But thanks again guys for telling me I made the right decision.
After you've run that new carb for awhile, check one or two spark plugs. If the insulator is light gray, or light tan, you have the right fuel mix. I have a 600cfm on my 390, and it runs good. I've played around with the jets, I think I have Max-Jet .062's in there right now.
