Need Help Identifying Wheel...

Hey guys, Stu especially, looking for some help identifying a wheel. I had two of these and two widowmakers on my '50 F-68 when I bought it last summer, it appears to be a two piece with a locking ring. One of them had a Ch*&y hubcap on it, not sure if that's a clue or not. Pictures...

Thanks for any help. It's more out of curiosity than anything else, at this point I have no plans to use them.

That was probably mounted on the front of your truck, am I right? It won't fit over your rear hub without some grinding of the center hole. It's a Chevy/GMC 3/4 or one ton from the late 40s or early '50s. It's a Kelsey-Hayes product, one of two different part numbers having the exact same description, 5" width, offset, etc, and having what they called an "AR" three piece outer rim. There was also a 6" special order wheel but I doubt it's that one since the tire is a 7.00 x 17". The center hole is 4.625" in diameter while your Ford rear end needs a 4.875" center hole.

I've got one too that came on a parts truck. I've hung on to mine because it's good for moving parts trucks on and off the trailer, or if I'm rearranging the barn. The "AR" isn't a great design by modern standards, but was a heck of a lot better than the widow maker design. There's really no market for them. The Chevy/GMC guys look for the 19.5" replacements same as we do. Stu

Thanks for the lesson and you're right, they were on the front.

I'll likely keep them around for the same reason you kept yours.
