Replacing Interior on 1986 F250 ext. Cab
Hey Guys, I'm going to be buying a 1986 Ford F250 Extended Cab for $800 bucks. It has a Navistar 6.9L Diesel that crapped out, and I'm going to drop a 5.9L Cummins in it. I want to replace the interior with an interior that of a 1997. Any suggestions of where to buy the parts, and how to replace the interior, and any tips and suggestions on how to drop the Cummins in it? Thanks guys!

Interior
If I remember right only up to a 92 will fit however since yours is an 86 which is the year they changed the interiors, you should stick with 86 and older parts. I have an 86 which I am putting an 88's interior into except dash and the rear corner panels. Those items I have to use the original ones. F100, F150, F250 all use mostly the same interior panels. Just find good ones in the wrecking yard color isn't important because you can always use SEM vinyl paint, prep, and adhesion promoter to change the color. My truck started as a base model with nothing in it now it has a full interior as soon as I finish assembly. Good Luck.

Swapping to the newer "low mount retractor" seat belts is entirely possible, but requires that you stiffen up the B-pillar, for obvious reasons.
As for your question, there a bunch of tiny things that are in the wrong spot on the 80-86 trucks that keep swapping a 92-96 dash into a 1980-1986 cab from being a bolt-in affair. However, if you can weld, you'll be fine.
