Cops wont pull you over for having a Diesel straight piped, a gas motor straight piped then yes they can pull you over.

I wouldn't do it.

You're just going to cause grief in getting inspected - get pulled over more often, and rattle your teeth out.

Where's the up side?

I get that it's fun to be loud - but that fun wears off after a week or two.

Soon you'll start noticing a great sense of relief every time you shut your engine off.

Trying to talk with a passenger while the windows are open is an exercise in futility.

Try using a cell phone and the person you're talking to is going to hate you - you'll be screaming into the phone not even knowing how loud you are, and all be saying is "what? can you repeat that? what?"

Seriously -

All for what? an obnoxius sounding truck?

Put a performance muffler on there and you'll still get a good sound, but it'll have all the high frequency cracks and pops taken out - and it'll sound more like a high performance engine and less like your muffler rusted off.

...what? Removing any emissions equipment is against the law, as well as being obnoxiously loud. They will pull a loud diesel over just as fast as a gasser.

Its probably not worth it on a diesel without a turbo. I dont think anything straight piped sounds good, just loud. any on road vehicles that is.
