my exhaust fell off from just behind the second cat and i figured instead of putting a quiet muffler back on i'd open it up a little and get an aftermarket muffler/glasspack/straight pipe, but i'd like to try to stay with a single pipe if possible (the police seem to target people with duals, cuz they got nothin better to do ). i have a 91 sonoma with a y pipe after the cat and it sounds awesome but my dad said an inline wont produce the same sound as a V6 so i figured why not ask somebody that knows first hand. by the way the truck is a 88 f150 4.9fi shortbox
How does it sound now, with 2 cats and no muffler? If you like it, just run a straight pipe with a 45 degree elbow and exit before the rear tire. For less than $15, you'll have an exhaust system.
