2008 or a 2009 f150?

Hey all,

So I am looking to trade in my ranger on a full sized and I have come down to either a 2008 or 2009 f150. What I am looking for now is insight from people who do or have owned them. Is the 6 speed auto a better tranny then the 4 speed? Does the traction control issue in the 2008 affect the trucks performance significantly? General stuff like that. I will be getting an XLT or maby a FX4 if the price is right and either truck I will be getting the 5.4l 4x4. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

i had a 07 and a 10 i cant see you not liking the 09 what with its 6 speeds! my 07 was a sweet ride and pulled like a raped ape! but you add the 6 speed and that 5.4 wakes up and it was a good towing beast! now my 5.0 is even better but thats not what you wanted. if it was me i would go with the 09 its newer and has more technology in it. the 08 you are looking at having the plug s that don't change out easy, and have been known for braking in the head on removal.

Definitely the 09' !! The 6 speed trans is all the reason you need over the 08' just like blueovalboy mentioned!!

I think the 6 speed in the '09 is reason enough. The plug issue in the previous gen trucks was fixed sometime in 2007 so the '08's had a one piece plug, IIRC. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

Is a 11' out of your price range? They did make quite a few changes in that year to the F150.

^^^ What they said. If you get the 09 you will immediately be required to post pics, or Brad will throw something like this at you

2009 is the one if they are comparable trucks feature wise. My 2009 has 81K on the clock and that's towing/hauling/fast miles on it. Chris

09 is a huge improvement over the 08 (total redesign).
If possible, look for a 2010/2011... 2010 added the electric fans and new brakes which make a huge difference.
