Front fender repair panels...

Hi, this is my first post here. I have owned a 1966 F-250 Camper Special since 1992. I have been around the world in it. It is next on the list to get a well deserved restoration.

I am currently starting a restoration on a 1965 F-250 that has the typical rust throughout the whole truck. I have a question about the aftermarket half front fender panels that I have seen on some of the parts websites. Does anyone know if these panels come with the structure parts on the inside? The left fender I have is rusted out on the inner structure that bolts to the cowl as well as the fender itself. Also, if anyone has used these panels, how well do the body lines on the wheel opening line up?

Thanks, Jeff.

Not sure about that but lmc trucks sells the complete fender for around $250, as for the inner fender I don't think you can get new ones.

Thanks. I saw the fenders, but I have about maxed out my limit on the "wish list" shopping cart....lol.

I should have made my post a little more clear. The part I am referring to is the 4'' wide reinforcement that is welded to the backside of the fender. The pictures in the catalog look more like fender skins to me.

Thanks for the tip Bill.
I have bought slot cars from Bruce at Greensales in the past. I will have to give him a call.

My local ACE Hardware has cage nuts and though not an exact match, they worked very well when i installed my fender.

i have a few of those cage nut clips...a real rarity seeing those unbroken as the nut was tack welded to the clip itself..lots of lube and i would add a tack to the clips as well...
Starting with 66, they went to the one piece stamped steel clip used into the 70s and beyond...

Yeah, The Jersey winters took their toll. The upper front corner ones behind the headlight are a bear when they are broken. I think I learned a few new words that I didn't know were in my vocabulary when I was trying to get them off. Almost everyone of mine looked like this. Thanks for the info, I will check out NAPA

If you havent encountered a few of those then you havent worked on a Ford truck.

Well, I called LMC to ask about the patch panel. They really couldn't tell me if the reinforcement on the back of the panel was included or not. I guess they will lose a large sale.

I'm glad the problem with someones nuts got solved though.
