Driveshaft question

Hello,

I am in the process of rebuilding a 52 ford F1, putting a 302 from an 80 ford f150 with a 5 speed transmission out of a 90 ford pickup in the truck. The rearend I am using is a 9 inch rear from a 59 Ford Pickup.

My question is, what type of driveshaft do I need to be looking for as far as the u joint size goes? I can have the length of a shaft adjusted at a local shop, but I don't know what really to look for as far as a driveshaft goes. Is there any particular model truck I can get a driveshaft from? Or will I have to piece it together?

I am completely new at this and learning as I go, so I'm really just trying to get a good idea of what to look for.

As always, I greatly appreciate any and all help! Thank you.

Well basically the front needs the 90 model trans front section attached to the drive shaft. The rear depends on what flange is on the rear end pinion.

9" rears used at least two different u joint sizes depending on what yoke you have. You could take measurements on the yoke where the u joint sits and make a comparison at the parts store. Problem being your drive shaft will have a specific u joint size as well so you may have to either change yokes on the 9" or have the shop that your having shorten the shaft change out the rear of it to match the yoke.
