solid side windows

hey guys I am installing one piece windows in my 55 f100 that i purchased from mid fifty they are eating my lunch. Does anyone have any tips write ups or anything that could help? I have the hinges cut and front channels in but it seems like the window is getting in a bind when it is almost all the way up. Also I am working with new reproduction doors to. i really don't want to buy another window kit but if these are known for problems I would if I had to. i am located in Victoria Texas if anyone around here knows how to install these i would even pay to get them done.
thank you
Allan

a quick internet search came up with this.

Power Window Kit Installation - Tech Articles - Classic Trucks Magazine

and this

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...or-1955-a.html

and I could paste forever.

Thing is their is alot to be found on the web. Good luck cause what I hear is the 53-55 doors are the toughest to do this install on.

Might be the angle of your track inside the door. There is some room for adjustment at the back of the door, if it's binding at the front you may have to move the L-bracket that holds the track up or down to move it in or out, not sure if you understand my train of thought? Mind you I have a 56 that is a lot simpler to install.

Allan,

While looking through the mid-fifties catalog, I read where the 53-55 door glass is slightly curved unlike the 56. You mentioned that you purchased your kit from mid-fifties, but you didn't say if you bought the kit with the curved glass. This may be the reason for it binding at the top. Just a thought that might help. Good luck.

If your glass isn't curved you will have to cut the door and weld in a straight piece of "L" shaped metal, I think the kits comes with the metal needed.

Take some pictures and show us what you are up against. I was always told a picture is worth a thousand words.
