Door window problems

'81F100....The windows in the doors are rattleing pretty bad these days. I've found 'kits' to fix the problem, but they seem expensive, about $80 per door for everything. Anyone have any ideas how to fix the noise? The main thing seems to be the felt-channel the windows ride in. Is there something like a generic equalavent of that felt channel? I'm not trying to restore the truck to OEM condition, just to end the window rattle. Thanks for any ideas/tips.

... If you really don't give a flip about OEM and just want to stop the annoying rattles you can "beef up" the existing channel by removing the worn felt (inside the channel) and place double sided tape in the track then put the worn felt back in. Another alternative is to use silicone sealant instead of the tape, but that can become very messy in a heartbeat. Most rattles come from worn window regulators and or missing slides. If you dare, remove the inside door panel and inspect the window mountings with the window down, then half way up. Shake the glass and see where it makes contact. Someitimes you can substitute hood to fender rubbers (junk yard item) along the interior door frame to help eliminate the noise. Good Luck!
