HPOP draining back to the sump causing cold start issues? - Video added!

hey Colm sorry I didnt see this tread.
what is basicly going on is the resivior for the high pressure pump is draining out overnight.
The ones I have found have all been casued by the high pressure pump leaking from the pump shaft seal.
it is possible that there could be a crack in the sump alowing drain back to the pan but I have not seen or heard of it yet.

So just to update the thread to current status ....
I have a decent small rise on my property and a flat area too and I have video taped every start after an overnight sit for the last 2 weeks.
Flat or nose up I have to recrank to get the engine to run without shutting off.
Nose down I get a good start each time, every time.
Right now I have done nothing with it. I just park it nose down now until I can get a new pump in. My EV2 HPOP gauge connector that plugs into the ICP was broken from the factory and between trouble shooting that and then getting a replacement, then finding a cut in the wire at the IPR connector and repairing that, I am mentally done being under the hood for a while . In and out, in and out, in and out to the ICP area on a 2003 6.0 is taxing on the mind
So for now I've moved on to my lawn, cutting trees, and helping someone out with a roof job. Truck runs great all day for now so long as I park nose down at home.
I will update if anything else changes or when I get to replace the pump - which I hope will be soon.

The final update ....
I got the cash and the time together to get the HPOP replaced. I went with the Dieselsite billet pump.
The problem was diagnosed as the oil draining out of the reservoir for the HPOP when the truck was parked nose up or flat. It first happened around June 2012 when I was at 248,000 miles. The pump got replaced March 2013 when I was at 273,000.
I was able to delay changing the pump for the 9 months and 25,000 miles by always parking nose down everywhere I went. No ill effects that I can tell.
Truck is running and starting fine now with the new pump, no matter what way I park. My new AutoEnginuity is telling me all is good and healthy.
Thanks Cheezit for the original diagnosis.

Thanks Mark,
It definitely was a bit of an unusual one.
For anyone who comes across this thread later with the same problem, I did a lot of reading before I went with the billet pump. My plan is to keep the truck for a number of years and maybe 200K more miles. What I was finding is that the later model oem pumps are more consistent than the ones for the earlier model trucks, so I didn't want to have to dig into the engine again for a replacement pump that didn't hold up longterm.
