Angry 94 F150 Violent Noise when braking

I've got a 1994 XL F150, 302, 4R70W, 2 wd, 188,000 miles. I want to give it to my son. Last week, my wife and I were driving home, and it started sounding funny in the frontend (I think?), and when breaking for a stop sign all hell broke loose. A load popping noise. Today I turned the rotors, and put all new bearings, seal, and pads. Still have this loud noise I THINK somehow caused when braking.
I just took a real hard look at the spindles, and can't see anything cracked. Has anyone had something similar?
Damn good truck, and I hate to junk it.

After reading about radius arm bushings, and their installations I think you're right ncranchero. I will replace them and see if it solves the problem, and post back up.

Well you have done the brakes and there is rearward pressure on the radius arm when you apply brakes so that would just be the next logical place to examine.
