still high oil temp

I have replaced my oil cooler and did two complete flushes of my system and I'm still getting a high delta spread ect194 eot 204-208. I am stumped. I did do a egr delete as well and have heard that I can get away with a higher spread???? Any ideas?

What are your cold soak numbers? Could be a bad temp sender. Try swapping them.
When you flushed the system did you do a before and after VC9 flush? 10* split not bad. Why so much variation on eot? Hill climbing / towing doesn't count.

You are under a 15 deg spread. I do not think it is a problem.

My cold soak numbers are the same may be off by 1 degree sometimes but normally the same. When i did my flush I used vc-9 then flushed with distilled water. At one time I saw 16 degrees difference on the high way, as soon as I get off the freeway my eot's come down! I guess I can try swaping the sensors and see what happens. Do you know where these two are?

Did you change the oil cooler yourself? the EOT sensor is right on the oil cooler, the ECT is on the driver side close to the radiator below the thermostat housing. Both are in tight space to get tools to.

Wait til the engine is cool, or wear gloves - lol!

Also - drain some coolant out before changing the ECT sensor. You can re-use it of you keep it clean.

There can still be a bias of a few deegrees, but typically not more than that.

Personally I don't think you have an issue worth worrying about at this time.

That is great to hear, but I'm just worried about these two temps I have read so much bad and good on them so i want to really watch them!! So even with a almost 15 degree spread I shouldn't worried to much??

I wouldn't get concerned until you see 220 degrees.

Not to sound stupid or keep bugging you I'm just so freaked out with these 6.0's. I love the truck and want to make it last as long as I can!! What if I'm at 210 ECT and i hit 223 or so EOT'S. IMO the most important reading when you have an EGR delete is the raw oil temp number. Yes if you see a 15 degree spread you are plugged to a slight degree (on the cooling water side of the oil cooler), but it is not a major issue as long as the oil can get adequately cooled.

Others may disagree, but that is what I believe.
