Real quick

Discovered EWT/EOT 2.7* split after cold soak. Which temp probe to change first? Water temp was closer to ambient. Suspect oil temp probe.
Here's a chance to put in your $00.02 worth.
8* spread on hiway, so well within spec.

2.7 degrees is perfectly fine. Those sensors don't have sub 1% tolerance...

no offense but aint it supposed to be egt vs. eot? u sure tats the correct reading?

btw, if ur delta is about 8 degrees on highway, it's ok. oh, and ur 8 degree delta, is it with load or without? if with load, then ur great. if without, ur still ok. no worries.

Its not EGT, that's exhaust gas temperature. which is important, but has nothing to do with oil temp.

The OP listed EWT/EOT, which I assumed was water and oil temps. Usually ECT/EOT are used, coolant and oil temps.

As stated, 8 degrees is fine, when you start seeing over 15 degrees separation during steady state operation is when you should be concerned.

I agree that you should not worry about that difference after a cold soak. Assuming the temps should have been identical (and they won't be) then that would only be a 1.2% inaccuracy.

But lets say you want to try to improve it anyway. First thing to do is to reverse their application. They are the exact same sensor, so just swap them. Then check your cold soak and see if the inaccuracy swapped locations. If it did not, then there probably is an actual difference in temp after a cold soak. Maybe soak longer? If the inaccuracy did swap, then get one new sensor and change one of them. Either one, doesn't matter. Then see if it is corrected. If not, swap it with the other one.

But I think you'll be chasing your own tail for no good purpose.

EGT? WTH did that have to do with it?

the temps are also dependent on the load carried as well, from consulting the ford bulletins. my 2 cents.

On flat level ground at 60 mph after heat saturation my deltas are roughly the same loaded or unloaded. 4 to 8 degrees.

tats ok. i dont need the whole world to know how smart i am. the main focus is tat we can get our message across and the only reason i'm here is to assist my fellow ford brothers in hopefully pointing them in the right direction towards a solution.

i take no credit and thus, expect no credit. i jus thank god i'm still able to do this. i served my countrymen and i still continue to do my best. heck, if my spelling offends u tat much, maybe u should ignore me, or u can persuade my alma mater, Westpoint Academy, to refund me my entire college tuition. i'd like my money back too. lol.

i'm a disabled army veteran. i should get something back, right? lmao! or maybe it's "f**k you, army boy"? hahahahahahahaha.

nah, dont be so uptight. chill. have a beer or two.
