about to blow up my truck.... need a hand

ok, I have a 2006 f250 xlt, it seems like everytime I want to dosomething with my truck, it wants to fight back. I bought a center console, i wanted to replace the flipup seat. I drilled and screwed the console down. its dead center, i looked at my friends truck put it almost exact where it is. ok cool its in the truck, looks great.... now my truck wont unlock. It will lock remotely, and from the inside. Remotely it wont unlock or inside. SO now im at the point, did I just drill a wire, wouldnt I of noticed it? Is there a fuse I should look at?

don't blow it up yet.... start checking fuses... sounds like a fuse or maybe a relay.... make sure you didn't hit any wires where you installed your console.

look in your owners manual.... i have a older truck and don't have the same wiring harness as you. other option is take each fuse out one at a time and check for a blown fuse.

You didn't need to drill anything to mount the center console. It sandwiches under the seat brackets.

Anyway, this might be unrelated to the console. Your truck will not lock with the FOB if a key is in the ignition. This is normal behavior to keep you from locking your keys in the truck. So it is possible that the truck thinks your key is in the ignition, even though it isn't. Which would mean the key sensor is somehow acting up. Mine has done that too, and a shot of WD40 in the key hole, and working the key in/out a bit fixed it.

Just noticed your problem is with unlocking, not locking. Oh well, maybe it will help someone some day.

Sounds like my Wii remote when battery is low, have you tried changing the battery? In the keyless remote, I mean.

Prior to the 08s I believe, if your truck had factory buckets the console screwed to the floor. In 08 it changed to the brackets similar to the 20 part of the 40/20/40 seat held down by the inner bucket seat mounts.

Well, it is prudent to examine where you are drilling before you drill a hole, just to make sure there aren't any important wires, hoses, tanks or pipes on the other side......but 20/20 hindsight is pretty easy, so I'll shut up now.
