Edge or superchips
Having a hard time going from the 3.73 rear end to ta 3.31. Which tuner do you recommend? I was going to look at Mike and five star also, but I am not sure that i will be doing any other mods though. I realize this will not change ratio, but just need a little more punch when pulling in to traffic. Loving the new ride and waiting for them to fix the remote start (expected), Mike.

Guess superchips is biggest seller, they have a wireless system with a touch screen. Some have complained that the updates don't download? 5star has good feedback, with program for your needs that you ask for. Some programmers are made by the same company, just different packaging. It kind of sucks if you think your getting something, it doesn't happen and you are left waiting until the future for a new program to download. Know your feeling but the return at the gas pump should make a big difference in your satisfaction migrane tolerence level as the summer wears on you. Be patient, 2 MPG lets you reach the next big city down the I-way between fills. Shifting with M allows you to have a 6 speed manual feel, or trailer tow gives you higher revs between shifts pulling out or uphill.

With regards to 'Commercial Tuners", the parameters that can be adjusted are set by the OEM vehicle software. IMHO, if you live near any major city there are excellent tuning specialists with dynos who for the same price (if not less) will tune your vehicle taking into consideration your specific needs including environmental conditions, for your specific vehicle. IMHO, the best bang for the buck!
If you are comfortable and understand how to tune a vehicle, you can also do this yourself. There are several software programs available, that “Speak Common English” that will allow you to tune your vehicles ECM. One company is HP Tuners, they have a website….they offer two core programs, one for those who are doing dyno tuning and one for the home-garage mechanic (which is priced at about the same as most of the “canned tunes on the market) …this version limits the span of adjustments as a safeguard against doing something outside of the oem scope……basically, keeps you from doing something “too stupid by accident” (grin).

I'm really kinda surprised (not doubting you)...Ford already has a different tune for police spec vehicles and in numerous bulletins to fleet mgrs have warned aginst using any non-eom approved tuning device for enhancing performance (for warranty purposes)- sounds like most of your fleet is older.

We bought our vehicles used from a dealership so we missed the factory ford warranty and all that. The dealership, Joe Watt Auto (out of OK), gives a 1yr and 60K? miles warranty that is good even if we chip the vehicle.

Yes I was refering to you. I have no exp with gas tuners but I know not to expect the gains I see in my psd. I've heard the expys are sluggish and we are looking at them currently so I thought I'd ask incase we get one and want to add some snap to it

Our were pretty sluggish (compared to the chipped pickup I changed from). Once we chipped our expeds it really improved everything. We have no complaints.

Ordered the Superchips Cortex today and should have it tomorrow. I will keep ya'll updated. Sucks though because we are making about a 300 mile trip this weekend, but my parents are borrowing the Expy for a trip they are going on. I am more interested on in-town driving anyway. Thanks for all of the input from you guys. I had ordered the Edge but cancelled it, and spoke with 5 star - decided on the basic Superchips for our application. Thanks, Mike
