want to get rid of this ugly "flex" radiator hose

Never liked flex hoses, except in an emergency, but when i was putting my truck together it was quick and easy.
1 1/2" upper hose, stock radiator, with a 5.0L ford.
basically i need a 90 degree elbow thats like 16" long. (its 18" long now)
found a molded silicone hose for like 50-60 bucks.
What have you guys done??
anyone sell 90 degree molded rubber hose ?
I would love to browse thru a local parts store to see if i could find something, but they dont do that around here...

Thanks ! Mark

Try this link......open the pdf file in the first post. It is a pretty big file.
Scroll way down, the hoses are listed by size.
Sorry, I don't know how to link it directly.....

I used a 90 degree "sweep" from the local hardware store. You can get them in galvanized metal or in PVC;

You can also get rubber hose reducer buishings from NAPA in increments from 1 1/2 up through 3"
I think the part numbers are something like NBH 901, 902, 903....etc

Many "real" parts stores that cater to pros, especially ones that have been in business for a while are much more accommidating. Try like a Motor Bearing and Parts or a NAPA store to see if they would let you rummage around in their stock after you explain what you are looking for and why. It helps to carry a couple pix of your project and to go in at a slow part of the day. If they do and you find what you need, bring them back a bag of donuts to show your appreciation, they'll likely remember you the next time and be even more helpful.

Shucks, one of my local NAPA store guys would say, "Come on back and lets see what we can find." We've done this more than once.

I agree, make a friend at local parts store, I did and it was a major help. When the truck was running, I brought it over there and they went nuts. Where in CT. do you live? I'm from Bridgeport, Fairfield area. I understand, people up there can be harder to soften up. The Stratfield, Devon, Milford areas are traditional "hot rod" towns, maybe try there. My dad and I bought a Model A coupe in Milford to restore when I was in High School. Good Luck

I went this route:

The local Carquest guy is an old hand and pulled out his hose picture book. I did cheat a little.....I noticed that my son's 66 Mustang with a 5.0 had the right bend arrangement, so I bought that hose and cut it down a little.

I did the same for the bottom:

And....here are the part numbers:

If these don't work, the parts guy did start out with the picture book which shows a pic and states the hose end diameters. He figures that it's easier to start with the book and then start pulling parts for a physical look.

I have a 5.0l with a mid 70's dodge rad.I had the lower hose connection moved to the left side of the rad and used a upper hose from a 2002 Windstar for my upper and a 72 Vette lower hose worked perfect for the lower.

I took a wire coat hanger and bent/cut it to the proper length and shape. Then O'Reilley's let me loose in the back. I came away with #2163 Master Pro for the top and #20145 Gates for the bottom. maybe these will work for you? I have a 5.0 SBF with an aftermarket radiator (center outlet at the top and driver's side inlet at the bottom).
