Exclamation Hub

so the past two days because i have had nothing else to do, i had takin my whole hubs apart and cleaned and regreased all my bearings and such and i had noticed that on my driver side hub the part that goes onto the drive axle is clipped on to the part that sits in the outter part of the hub but the passenger was not. is that supposed to be like that. any one have any idea because now my hub is not locking you can hear it trying to catch but its not catching. any help would be nice

A picture is worth a thousand words...
Someone just posted a quick breakdown of the hubs, look there and see if it matches your setup.
