Anyone have "narrow" cross-over style toolboxes

Guys,

I am interested in putting a crossover toolbox (over-the-rail) in my bed but want to give up as little space as possible. When camping last year I saw a couple guys pulling 5ers and they had "narrow" style toolboxes from TSC.

I've found that box and the price is reasonable. I have looked and have found only one other narrow-style toolbox. Both were full-length lids which is fine.

Anyone have these style boxes in their trucks? If so, what is the manufacturer and do you have pics? I'm only looking to haul safety/emergency gear and tools so I don't need a ton of room, it'd just be nice to get that stuff out from under my backseat!!

Here is the TSC box:

I had a kobalt brand box that I bought at Lowes. It was 12" wide and went over the rails. Had the full length lid. It was lighter weight than I would have liked, had more flex than other boxes I have. It had a small ding in one side so I ended up paying around 70 for it. I wouldn't have paid full price for it, $149. Cabelas used to sell a narrow box, don't know if they still do but it was a quality box. If ya want to spend the cash go with weatherguard.

Yeah, you probably saw that the TSC model only weights about 35 pounds so I imagine it's fairly thin gauge aluminum. I don't think that will be an issue considering what I'm looking to load into it.

The other one I think was a UWS or something along those lines. Black with the aluminum diamond plate relief.

I don't see, yet, a narrow weatherguard but will keep looking. I have their floor mats and they're great!!

I've got the UWS 72"slim line. UWS is a lot stronger than the Kobalt, but it also cost more.
Here is a picture of it on my truck https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10839504

I have the slim one from Kolbolt and it works fine but its really light duty. This is my second since the first got crushed with a pallet of roofing that slid forward in my bed.

If your really going to be working out of the back of your truck it probably won't last. I just keep some tie downs and fuel additive in there and it works fine for me.

Yeah, that's something I didn't think about. I was thinking it would have no problem holding what I put into it but if I load my quad in the truck and bump the toolbox, I don't need to be crushing it in from something like that.

I will look at the UWS again, I didn't see the aluminum colored version, but I remember thinking it was about $330-350 range even for the narrow style. Does the price reflect the quality?

Google UWS TBS-72-SL and you'll find them under $300.
