The problem with high cca is there are more plates & they are thinner, and more likely to fail prematurely. The original batteries are around 700-750 cca, with 2 of them 1400 amps, 2 850's 1700 amps a 15% difference. Im in mn and dont think i would ever need the extra cca...

I disagree. My batteries are interstate platinums, I believe they have an 8 year warranty on them. They wouldn't warranty them for longer if they were prone to failing prematurely. I just my batteries hadn't been dead when I was broke or I would have went with optimas like I have on all my other vehicles... and never had to replace one yet (knock on wood).

I mentioned back on page 1 about my wally world battery in my chevy being 8-9 yrs old. Of course that was the kiss of death, it was stone cold dead today after not driving it for a week and the temp dipping down in the teens. Guess I'll just go for another wallyworld special.

Curt, I have to agree with you. What I've heard is the batteries with the high CCA are expensive because of the warranty, not becase of the CCA. But, I don't have any real data to back that up. Just what I've heard from talking to guys in shops and fleet mechanics. So it may or may not be right.

Now what I don't know is do AGM batteries last better? My alternator is getting weak and so are my batteries.
