Check the cable that goes from the throttle body to the cruise control motor as they sometimes break, it did on mine.
Could be the cruise control module that is mounted to the passangers side fender well cover. I think that is my problem, when I do the test with the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel I get 3 flashes at the end, and from the description of the flash code it seems that my module is dead
Recall has been done should I check the fuses on the new jumper by the brake booster? And how do I get the flash codes out of the cruise?
You are NOT going to start the X just turn the key to the on position, here goes,
Hold down the OFF button on the cruise control and turn the key to the ON position you will see the cruise logo appear in the bottom of the insturment display, once it goes out procced in this order within 3 seconds, next push the ON, then Resume,Coast, last Set/Accel it will at this point enter into a self test of the system including the speed servo or or the the cruise logo will flash a code by the logo blinking, count the blinks
edit: you don't have to push all the buttons within 3 seconds, just start the sequence within 3-5 seconds
I would check the brake pressure switch on the front of the master cylinder. Pull the connector off - if there's brake fluid, it's shot. The switch is about $20 at the dealer and an easy fix - no bleeding required. (BTW the recall only puts in a fuse, it does not replace the switch.)
If that's not it, it's probably the cruise servo on the passenger side fender (at least that's where is is on a 2003 5.4). Its a gray metal box with a single electrical connector and cable connected to the throttle body. It's about a 10 minute job to replace it and no programming or adjustment is necessary. I got a used servo from a wrecker for $75 (Ford wanted $400+ for a new one).

My cruise isn't working either. I'm going to try this to see how many blinks I get. Is there a list that shows the number of blinks corresponding to each problem? Don't know if mine has had recall work done, recently got it. It's an '01 4x4 V10.
