Remove tray from dash

Does any one know how to remove the coin change tray from the opening in the dash on a 2012 F-250 XL Regular cab to get to the trailer brake connector? I think this is the opening where the factory installed brake controller is installed, but my truck didn't come with the controller and now I want to install an aftermarket controller and don't know how to get that tray out.

I don't have an '11/'12, but in the past they just snapped in. You can reach up under the dash, and squeeze the top/bottom sides of the bin together so it unsnaps, and then pull straight out. I think yours is probably the similar.

The 2012 has a cup holder installed under this opening, so I cannot see any way to reach up under that to get to it.

Problem solved

I figured out how to get at the trailer brake control connector this morning. You have to remove the "line in" panel just to the right of the bin/cup holder. You need a special "panel removal tool" (small screwdriver) to pry the bottom of the panel out and then pull the whole panel out of the dash. Then you can access the gray connector very easily if you have a 5 year old sized hands. I used the special panel removal tool to retrieve the connector.

BTW, not many of the after market brake controller companies have a wiring harness that will match up with the new 2011-2012 Ford, so you have to use the harness that Ford supplied with the truck and do some splicing.
