Question Where to put Prodigy Brake Controller?

I'm trying to do a neat install with my Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller, and I DO NOT want to simple bolt it to the lower left-leg kick panel below the steering wheel (like the dealers all do).

I don't want it to sit atop the dash, because it blocks some forward visibility, too.

Where in the heck can this sucker be installed so it's out of the way, yet visible, and reachable?

I know there are a lot of trailer pullers out there. Where have you put your controllers?

And why in the heck doesn't Ford make a brake controller an option on their trucks!?? (They could make a really slick IP controller, built right in....)

I used to have a controller on mine and it was bolted just under the steering wheel a little off center to the right. I don't know if this helps but there ya go.

Yeah, i have been considering this lately, I DO NOT want it bolted right to the kick panel either.

I was thinking of making a cutout in the kick panel and mounting the controller on the backside so that just the front stuck out. However, some controllers have adjustments on the side and that wouldn't work. But it shoudl work for the prodigy.

Some trucks even had a cubby hole in the kick panel that would make it really easy.

I bolted mine to the bare metal strip under the dash to the left of the column. It is almost invisible, but can be reached with ease to adjust the brakes on the trailer.

Cool

I mounted my prodigy brake controller on a bracket I fabricated on the panel just to the right of the steering wheel below the small opening (cubby hole) in the dash. Had to run a small bracket (let to the floor) that is held in place with a piece of velcro. It's easily removed when not in use and on top of the bracket I placed a nice sized compass, got to have some idea where I'm going.

This has worked get for us.

I have a Jordan Ultima controller so this may not work for yours. I mounted mine under the pod that holds the headlight switch. The cables go into a notch in the fuse box cover and the controller panel is right at my fingertips. I didn't like the looks on the panel below the steering column either; I think mine looks right.

My truck does not have the cubby hole in that column panel, and I considered cutting and mounting it there, but it just seemed like more trouble than it was worth. Also, my daughter's Expy does have that cubby hole and I kinda' like it; might get a panel from a boneyard some day.

Hi fireball69 and welcome to the forum

I like your velcro idea much better than drilling holes.
