Is there a better plug/different heat range spark plug??

I had a honda civic that used to list a "highway" use plug for people who did extensive highway driving that was different from the standard plug for a stock car. is the same true for the 5.4l 3v???

Yes the better plug is the Motorcraft plug designed for these engines. Many have tried other plugs and many have come back after poor performance.

Just did the plugs at 211k on my 04 and went with the one piece Champion 7989. Truck is running just fine after 2k on the new plugs.

Most of the guys said that after about 10k the champion plugs started causing problems. Now not everyone has this issue but many of reported it. I still see it just best to stick to OEM plugs for engines even my wife's jeep rejected the plugs I put in that were not OEM.

Plugs

I've been running Champions in mine since last spring. No problems, no issues and I'm actually getting a little better mileage out of it than with the OEM plugs.

I now have 28,000 mi. on my Champions and have had zero problems. Earlier on (4 years ago) there were some problems reported, but I am not seeing those problems being reported of late. At any rate, Champions are one-piece(or welded, whatever) and can easily be removed without breakage. This fact alone was enough impetus for me to try them. Really glad I did.

Glad to hear you aren't having any problems better then what most reported as short as earlier this year but the breakage issue is easily fixed with a small amount of anti seize.

Also better mileage is common after replacing plugs as the engine is firing better I would not say this is because of the champions but this is better news for Champions then in the recent past but I would still not use anything but OEM plugs.
