1965 F100 300 6 cylinder accelerator cable

Hi, I need some help in locating a replacement accelerator cable for my 1965 F100 300 CI six cylinder truck. My cable broke. The part number is C5TZ-9A758-AG, which is listed as obsolete. The cables available from parts dealers are shorter for the 8 cylinder engines.

I have tried looking at local salvage yards but so far no luck. I was planning to use my truck for a hunting trip later this month and need to get back on the road.

Any advice or help would be appreciated!

No one makes a reproduction cable.

Look to lokar and adapt a universal cable.

The reproduced cable available from parts dealers is shorter for the 352 engine (20" - C5TZ-9A758-AH).

C5TZ-9A758-AG (replaced C5TZ-9A758-C, C5TZ-9A758-AA) .. Accelerator Cable-28.66" long / Obsolete

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any of these part numbers.

Applications: 1965/66 F100/250 240/300 I-6 2WD.

There is another 28.66" cable (C6TZ-9A758-K), it is not the same, as it fits 1966 F100 240 with T/E (Thermactor Emission-smog pump).

NOTE: ebay sellers usually have no clue, so be very careful if buying a cable off ebay.

Most ebay sellers have no parts catalogs, and if the cable is NOS, has a part number on it, they usually assume it's for an F100...sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

2WD is different than 4WD. N Series, P Series Parcel Delivery's, Econolines also used these cables. The part numbers prefix is the same for all: C5TZ, but the cables are not the same for all!

Markth, I checked ebay, could only find the shorter ford V8 throttle cable.

garbz2, thanks for the lead on Lokar, seems like making a replacement is the way to go.

Bob's F100 lists a reproduction cable for 6 cylinder models. You may want to call them. Here is the link:

You're welcome timber_cruiser. If it turns out to be the correct cable, post back so everyone will know.

About Bob - Bob's F100 Parts - (951) 681-1956
There are two different 28.66" cables, which one has been repro'd?

C5TZ-9A758-AG = 1965/66 F100/250 2WD 240/300 except 1966 F100 240 I-6 with Thermactor Emission-smog pump.

C6TZ-9A758-K = 1966 F100 240 I-6 with Thermactor Emission only.

Bob has invented a part number: C6TZ-9A758-AFG says it fits 1965/66 F100/250 240/300. Uh huh...

So, which cable is this? C5TZ-9A758-AG or C6TZ-9A758-K / They do not interchange!

Bob's F100 does not carry the accelerator cables for any six cylinder engines any more.

Going to order one from Lokars
