Well I've seen quite a few posts on this exact issue, however nothing gets posted after a fix or people simply don't fix it.
I can't live with *****ty brakes any longer so I'm ordering both the Hydroboost and the Master cylinder, I can get both for under $300 and it looks super easy to install. I'll post by the middle of next week on results here goes nothing ........

I was told by a member on here a while ago Ford had an issue with our master cylinders where the internal piston would over travel and force fluid past the cruise control cutoff sensor. Ford blamed the sensor for the fluid leak (and fires) but the real culprit was the MC. I have noticed on my truck the hotter the outside temps get the weaker the brakes and I get a progressively louder squeak/squish noise when the pedal is pressed. Hydroboost is also leaking a small amount.
So if the hydroboost only provides power brakes like a vacuum booster then the pressure and efficiency lies in the MC. If it is overtraveling causing leaks then maybe the pressures are off internally (+/-) causing poor performance. As soon as I have some money I am going to replace both units on my truck this summer.

Ok i'm guessing no one has heard anything about this. I'll chime in because i am about to put my 3RD set of rear brake calipers on my truck in the past year. Not sure why i keep going through them but i have the same symptoms and then eventually one of them will start dragging followed by the other. Just wondering if maybe this problem is related to what you guys are having going on?

I'm happy to say mine was as simple as replacing the MC. I read through a few threads here on the brake issues and the one issue that couldn't get me past the MC is that with the truck not running, I could push the pedal slowly and it kept sinking.

The "compressed gas" label refers to the accumulator part of the hydro-boost. It provides limited power assist when the main pressure to the system fails. Air in hydraulic systems, either in the p/s or braking system can cause "sponginess". Brake fluid should be replaced at least every 2 yrs. Moisture is absorbed into the fluid and cannot be purged. The moisture in the system will release air into the fluid when it boils due to heat and pressure.

Well reading this, i believe that's what i just lost.. was turning and heard a pop, lost steering and brake assist. Having just lost and replaced my serpentine i knew that wasn't it. I looked through the driver wheel well and saw something. Reached in and pulled out a blue cylinder that said compressed gas. I'm assuming this was part of my hydroboost . Now i gotta look on how to replace that.
