Your thoughts please........

F-250/F-350 SUPER DUTY 6.8L V10 STAINLESS STEEL HEADER | eBay

99-04 FORD SUPER DUTY F350 6.8L V10 2WD EXHAUST HEADER | eBay

I'm planning of changing the manifold studs and might as well go with the header route while I'm in there.

Any thoughts on the headers for sale in ebay? Pls see above links. They are really cheap compared to the name brands. Anybody have these headers installed in their Excursion? Pls advice. thanks.

The 6.8L Forum has a lot of threads regarding the V10 headers. Since you question is 6.8L specific, you're best bet is to do a search over there to see what the guys in that forum have to say abut it.

They've covered the topic to death over there.

those are shorty headers...so really not worth crap IMO for performance. since you are in there anyways, they can't hurt.

You want longtube headers for performance

Like he said, go over there and read some. Most have reported good gains even with the "shorty" headers.

I bought a set similar to those and the passenger side wouldn't fit without having to notch the framerail. I wasn't willing to do it and the seller took them back. Seems like it happens on some of the models but not sure which ebay brand would actually work.

I purchased a set of cheap ebay headers they cracked shortly after the install. I did wrap the headers that could have contributed to the problem. IMHO...its a waste of money. I think the Banks Headers are the best but cost the most! Several guys have had good luck with Headman Headers recently and cost half what Banks Headers cost. Don't waste your money on the ebay stuff!

After reading several posts regarding this subject, it seems like Hedman headers is a very good choice in regards to the price, quality and its a kit that comes with the Y pipe.

So I went to my local exhaust shop and the guy quoted me $440 just for labor to remove the old manifolds and install the headers and y pipe. Seems fair to me considering some guys had spent days just to remove the old manifold. Your thoughts???

That's not terrible. He willing to put that in writing? What if you have many broken studs or even just a couple? Still the same price?

Guy is honest. He has done a few exhaust work for me recently and in the past and was always true to his words. He told me that it will probably take him the better part of the day to do the job.
