3:44 A.M. and a thrown belt
So here I sit in my truck on the side of an interstate with a thrown belt hahahaha. Me and my girl were driving back from atlanta and now I'm kinda screwed. How hard exactly is it to put on a new belt on the side of the road? I got my toolbox and **** so I have tools...and I'm gonna get a ride to a parts store tmorrow. Any advise?

Easy in the day, slightly harder at night! Just follow the diagram on the lip above your grill.
One's with A/C, one's without A/C
One can do it, but two is recommended. all you need is a rachet, with the correct socket, and done! Or breaker bar would work too!
Best of luck to you! Hope you make it out of there.

The two times I've worked on a vehicle because it threw a belt the problem was the idler pulley. Once it froze (the wife didn't tell me the thing had been noisey for a couple of days) and the other time the pulley would just lean over far enough that the belt kept coming off (ruined two belt before I figured out the problem).

It's quite easy, i've done it both at day and night, as you have been told already, all you need is a socket wrench (even simply a wrench) and a 15mm socket. Slide the belt in position, except for the tensioner pulley, then use the wrench counter clock wise to release the tension and be able to slide the belt under the pulley and you should be good to go. Of course, if the engine threw the belt you need to find out the cause, if it was a very old belt it probably was just ready to go, if not, check those pulleys.
Big, he probably rolled for a little while without the belt, at night, hard to find it that way, and sometimes the engine itself shreds the belt once it comes off.
