Does anyone know any tricks to changing the serp. belt. Because i was following the diagram thats provided and i just cannot get the tensioner to budge. I've tried just about everything i can think of and now if anyone can give any advice would be helpful, thanks.
I have changed mine twice and it takes some SERIOUS leverage. I use a 1/2 drive pull bar about 14 inches long with a socket attached that fits the nut on the front of the tensioner pulley.
Are you sure your going in the correct direction trying to release tension from the belt?
hi, make sure you are on the correct bolt, it must be on the wheel and not the pivot point. yes i made this mistake and ended up loosening the whole assembly.
good luck bokker.
I just did mine yesterday. Not much mistaking it. The tensioner, directly below the alternator has a 15mm bolt. You release it by pushing down and turning it counterclockwise. My 16 year old was able to do it fairly easily. I had more difficulty getting the new belt over the pulleys than with the tensioner itself. If it's not moving, the tensioner is probably froze. You can get one at Advance Auto for around $50-60. The bolt to hold it on has a power head (star shaped) head on it. I don't remember the size.
