89 F250 Hardware help

Hello, i bought a 89 f250 without the engine and soon i would like to get a engine in it and get it going. The previous owner lost most of the hardware when he pulled the engine so I'm having a fun time tracking down the hardware. Does anybody know what size or even where i would be able to buy the bell-housing bolts?? It's got the zf-5 speed. I need other hardware if anybody could chime in on where or what size, that would be great!! Thanks in Advance, Dale

Starter Bolts (thinking auto-zone maybe???)
Exh. Manifold Bolts
Motor Mount Bolts

The bellhousing to engine bolts are 7/16-14 thread. :)
Can you measure the lengths needed?

I don't know the exhaust manifold and starter bolt sizes off the top of my
head like the bellhousing bolts but can look into it tomorrow and post 'em.

I can tell you one thing for sure tho, they ain't metric :) the engine was
designed using inch-fasteners on everything I've ran across, even in '91.

ps- I search for *ZF* and don't read much else here anymore. :/

if you are missing a bunch of hardware... May I suggest you buy a parts truck for $400-$800 with a good motor. You can swap the motor in and have all the hardware from the donor truck. then when you get done pulling what you need and maybe a few extra parts for future use or resale on craigslist you can scrap the truck for at least a couple hundred to recoop initial costs. Just a thought...

This is what I would do. Get one that's been in a wreck but still runs good. You can get them at insurance auctions.

or find one that someone doesn't want to fix that has a blown tranny or other drive-train problems besides the motor. I bought Thumper with a blown ZF, and after looking long enough I got my 4x4 ZF tranny for under $100... Thumper only cost me $400ish to buy... In fact I didn't spend more than $500 on any of the truck in my sig pic...

Alvin: i appreciate the specs, and i should be able to measure the length.

Thanks again everybody for chiming in!!!

Thanks... i cobble a couple together and make 3 of them run usually! LOL!

Anyhow if you make a list of what you need and PM me I might be able to help since a couple of mine are going to the scrappers soon. I'd need to know which engine and tranny and a list of all the "nuts and bolts" you need. I can get a flat rate box from the post office to mail since it would be heavy. I could drop each group of parts in it's own baggy and label them to help out too. Might save you some time looking! Just a thought... Let me know!
