Flareside Supercab steps

The supports under the step on the cab of my 93 are rotted out. I found one place that sells NOS parts, but they want $400 per side!! Any idea where I can find lower cost replacements? Or am I gonna have to fabricate?

Welcome to FTE

NOS = new old stock (usually) means the parts are obsolete, but in his case, both the support brackets are still available from Ford. The price, however is a downer!

F2TZ-16A506-A .. R/Support Bracket

F2TZ-16A507-A .. L/Support Bracket

Right/left are the same price.

Ford suggested retail price each: $544.68 / ftepartguy.com price each: $392.17

Flareside only, 1992 thru 1996 are the same.

I think any decent welding shop could fabricate a replacement piece for @ $100.

Most of what I can possibly see bad is just small diameter rod or tubing. They could easily bend a new piece to fit and reweld it in place.

Much cheaper then what you could buy .........And if they use solid stock it will last much longer the next time.

I really should crawl under there and check mine. I'm pretty sure this is a very common problem among the flaresides in this era. Since me being a machinist and working in my dad's shop I'm sure I can come up with some stainless tubing to do mine, even if we have to cut and weld some places together noone looks under there hardly so who cares right?

My brother is a mechanic, and his best friend is a machinist, so I'll have to talk to them and get some made.

Do a search on here. Someone else had the same problem. They contacted Lund, I believe they made them for Ford. They warranteed them after more than ten years. I would have called them myself, but I already tossed the brackets.
Take alot of pics and contact Lund.

Make sure you paint them before putting them on.

I contacted Lund, they said they no longer produce that exact model and they are not warrantied, looks like I'm gonna try to go the machinist route.

Flare side step mounts.

Hey, how are we all doing. I noticed that someone posted that they know were to buy the side step mounts (Part #F2TZ16A507A & F2TZ16A506A) for a flare side. I need both sides A.S.A.P. I just had the truck painted and the painter can not install the step because the brackets are completly gone. If anyone knows of a set or can make them could you give me a phone number? I tried everywhere with no luck at all.
