PMC update and Smoke
I got my requested for the PMC update to my 2008 F250 job 1 SD last week and been waiting as I have noticed a few problems with others who had the update. I also heard there was a new PMC program coming from Ford mid May 2011 so I will wait and see.
Also, fairly new to the Ford diesel scene and I had my first white/blue smoke shutter twice last week but it was in the rain. Very wet and after reading all the comments about the CAC update I assume I had water in the intake??How would I know wheather the truck had a CAC update from Ford. Any tell tail signs or do I need to check with the dealer using the VIN.
Also have the engine making a bit of oil after 6000K and now due for an oil change but does not seem too bad- Should I be concerned and have a oil analysis?
PS: Great site & group, I have been on here a few yrs with updates to my 1986 F150 4x4

Yes there is an update to the update. Best to wait a bit longer as most dealers are unaware of it at this point.
As far as you smoke and shutter...or studder some call it. That does sound like the cac with water in it issue. Taking the lower boot off the cac and letting it drain may help..or better yet some WOT (wide open throttle) events will help to keep it cleaned out as well.
Getting the dealer to run your vin..an oasis report is the only way to see if the cac was ever replaced.

PMC Update & smoke
Thank guys for the input- I will wait on the PMC update. See what turns out on this site as Ford gets up to speed on this update.
My oil only has 4000 KM on it our about 2500 miles and it is up over the full line slightly but I think I will do the oil and all filters as you suggest-ASAP
CAC update I've heard varying results on th Ford upgrade (Just on this site)- but if it is a free install a slight upgrade is better then none.
Seems the DFP delete is the way to go (after warranty) and I will wait until the warranty is expired and then think about this upgrade.
