Damper pulley

Is a slight wobble in the damper pulley on the crank a sign of a bad damper or could it be the result of my miss/lopey idle? I am getting my injectors rebuilt over spring break and that should fix the miss/lopey idle, but I was curious if that would fix a slight wobble that I noticed in the damper pulley when I installed my new serpentine belt or if I need a new one of those too now.

Every one I ever looked at had a slight wobble. If you can move it with your hand though or even with light pressure from a prybar then it's bad. That outer ring is bonded to the inner part with rubber and it doesn't last forever.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I took the belt off and could not move it with my hand. Else tried the pry bar and it only slightly flexed. It looks like the outer rim is closer to the engine than the inner rim on one side but then 180 degrees away the outer rim is farther from the enigine than the inner rim.

I really hope that I don't have to buy one of these things. Everytime I've gotten ready to get injectors something major comes up.

Seems more like the pulley bearing is the culprit opposed to the damper.

Do you mean the tensioner pulley bearing or one of the idler pulley bearings? Because if its the bearing for the damper pulley I should just sell the truck, lol.

There is no bearing on the damper. It's just 2 pieces of steel bonded together. Behind that is the oil pump. No bearings though.

The 6203 type bearing the pulleys use is what I'm talking about!

Were talking about three different things here. Phil take pic of what your talking about.

He's not talking about the harmonic ballancer? I've heard that called dampener a lot. Never heard a tensioner called a dampener though.
Although I never saw a IDM called a fuel driver or a HPOP called an injection pump till I was surfing oreilleys site yesterday either.

I thought he was talking about the harmonic balancer too. I've never replaced or for that matter really inspected mine, but on other vehicles if there is any wobble I've changed them. Is the rubber visible on these to see if you can tell if it is seperating at all?

Which one we talking here???

Fluid damper makes a harmonic damper/balancer (if that's what you're talking about) I know clay sells them, pretty spendy though

Ok, so that's crank shaft. So you must be talking about the harmonic damper/balancer. Clay had the part listed up above. FWIW, mine has a slight wobble too... no way I'm replacing it at $450 unless it's about to fall off. That money can go right in the injector/HPOP fund.
