Newer Ford seats in an old truck?

Howdy Y'all. I have a 1985 Ford F250 regular cab and the seats are pretty banged up and moldy. I was looking into a new bench seat but my friend at the local diesel shop told me I can easily put newer ford seats in my truck. I was hoping to go with some captains chairs, from a 1995 or newer, with-out the center piece so I could stick a sub between the seats. But if captains chairs dont work out, I would like to go with a bench seat from something like a 1995 or newer truck. Does anybody know if they would easily go in my truck or even fit at all? Thanks!

Yes, you go up to 1997 on the seats, as long as its a 97 model F250 or F350. I have an 86 F250 and my seats are a bench seat with the arm rest and electric lumbar out of a 1997 Ford F250, this was with no altering to the cab or seats. Now the bench bucket seats will mount differently than your bench, you will have to drill an additional hole for each driver and passenger side for those.

Bench seats from 80-97 trucks are a direct swap. I think swapping in bucket seats from those same years requires modifying the mounting brackets though.

Not sure if the center seat/console on the 40/20/40 style seat is removeable, but FWIW I'd put the sub behind the seats. That way you're not going deaf in your right ear quite so fast. lol.

EDIT: Shoot, ya beat me to it. Didn't know that about the F250/350 bit though. Did you get the electric lumbar wired up and working?

I installed an additional power distribution fuse block under the hood and I ran a power wire from it to the seat, both driver and passenger side work though. I need to find a seat cover for it that will allow me to continue using the arm rest, I haven't found one yet, my seats are red and the interior on my truck is blue and I was keeping it blue.

I snagged a very nice bench seat out of an '84 for cheap, you might check local junkyards and see what you can find.

I too have an electric power lumbar seat from a 96 F-250. Thing is so darn comfy now its like driving my favorite couch down the street. I find it leaps and bounds above the stock "low back" bench that came in these trucks.

Now to find a good seat cover that will let me keep my arm rest, and cover the blue up as my interior is tan. Or some fabric dye...

I got a red vinyl seat and a rubber floor mat out of a junkyard 94 f-250. Both were in mint condition and went right in. My interior is red and the junkyard finds were also red, so everything matches perfectly.

I would love to see pictures of the 1991 bench seat in your 1980 model. My interior is also red, and I have access to a very nice 1989 seat, and I would love to see what it looks like installed.

I also sent you a PM.

Seats from a 80-96 Fseries will be direct bolt ins IF you have the same cab configuration. And heavy duty F250-350

SUPERCAB seats will ONLY bolt into a SUPERCAB

Regular cab and crewcab seats are interchangable

95 rear crewcab seat in my regular cab 86

Will a front seat bolt into the back of a crew cab? I just picked up an 86 F350 and will need seats.
