73 F250 crankcase vent system question

Hello. My recently purchased 73 Ford F250 w/ a 390 motor is in need of some new valve covers. I currently have the stock set up covers with a PCV valve one side and a oil filler cap with a vent hose connected to the air cleaner. My current air cleaner is an after market and will be replaced with an Edelbrock Signature series round style.

I bought some Edelbrock signature series valve covers. Each cover has a grommet hole. I will use one for the PCV valve that hooks up to the carb and the other for the oil filler cap. Can I leave the PCV valve hooked up and replace the oil filler cap hose assembly with a breather cap? If that will not work what type of cap can I use that will work with a grommet plug?

Thanks for the help.

You could use a breather cap. Just keep in mind that the fresh air supply that flows through the crankcase ought to have the dust filtered out.

Could I use this? <a href="http://paceperformance.com/i-5005962-signature-series-valve-cover-breather-edelbrock-4403.html">SIGNATURE SERIES VALVE COVER BREATHER EDELBROCK 4403</a>

Or should I use this? <a href="http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KNN-62-1516/">K&N Crankcase Vent Filters</a>

Thanks.

You can use any vented/filtered cap for the oil filler hole. Check your grommet size to make sure that you order the right size.

The PCV valve should plug into the grommet on the opposite side.

I like the K&N, but will that work in the oil filler hole?

On edit, looks like it should work by what I see on the Edelbrock site....

The 4403 will work fine, if ya got the jingle and it's burning a hole in your pocket you can buy the other more expensive one.
