TRUCK YOU! A 1953 Ford F-100 with Some Color
When you pick up an old ride to work on and revive, one of the biggest stepping stones is when you can get it back on the road. After all, it’s a wonderful reward to finally be able to drive the rig that you’ve put some much time, effort, and energy into bringing back to life. Ford FTE member Jeff (A.K.A. “mechmagcn“), this is something that he can personally testify is a true statement.
He’s been working on his ride, a 1953 Ford F-100, since May of 2003, and it has definitely been a worthwhile ride! Today we’ll step into his garage and take a closer look at the old school beauty that lies within!
In Jeff’s garage, he titles this classic pickup with the line “Someday,” which we would say is a very fitting way to characterize this always-evolving rig. After five years working on the old Ford, he finally managed to get it back on the road in May of 2008.
The F-100 features a 1981 Mercedez-Benz five cylinder turbo diesel, a 1987 Lincoln Town Car front frame clip and stock wheels, 1988 Ford Ranger rear springs, a 1988 Ford Bronco II sway bar and seats, a 1954 Willys Jeep steering column, and much more! Though still a Ford, we’d definitely say this old rig is a bit of a Frankenstein ride!
Of course, we’re very glad to see that it’s on the road! Jeff thinks that he might eventually pull it apart again for paint and body work, but as of right now he’s just enjoying driving it around town!
