F-150 Pro Trailer Backup Assist Recognized for Innovation at 2016 CES
Even though the 2016 CES show in Las Vegas doesn’t occur until the beginning of the year, the Consumer Technology Association has awarded their CES Best of Innovation honorees. Taking home the recognition this time is Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
For those not-informed, Pro Trailer Backup Assist is technology that incorporates the rear-view camera of the F-150 with some complex computer programming to make it easier than ever to maneuver a trailer. The driver simply has to turn a knob on the dash to guide the trailer safely where it needs to go.
And before you all go crazy with the “If you can’t back up a trailer, you have no business towing a trailer” rhetoric whenever we post a story about Pro Trailer Backup Assist, you don’t have to order it on your next new Ford truck. Even if you do have, you are not obligated to use the system.
All I know is on the next summer day I want to get out on the water as soon as possible. I want the person in front of me who is having trouble to have Pro Trailer Backup Assist because it means I get to have more fun sooner. Making it easier for the commoner to enjoy their truck is all the more reason why Pro Trailer Backup Assist is great technology and was recognized by the folks who run the CES show.
